About Ashlyn Nelson

I am an LCSW-A and have been a social worker for just over 3 years. I am a graduate of Salem College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have a background working with individuals and families impacted by violence, including adults, teenagers and children. This work gave me experience working through many challenges, including grief, depression, anxiety, substance use, panic, self-esteem, suicidality, and trauma. I also have experience working with veterans, providing support around medical issues, family struggles, aging, and end of life care. I have specialized training in working with substance use and addictions.

My practice style is person-centered and collaborative, integrating different methods based on the client's unique situation and personal goals. I welcome any and all clients, regardless of background or identity, and treating everyone with respect is of the utmost importance to me. I want to create a safe and supportive space to help you reach your goals in therapy and hopefully feel better!

In my spare time, I love to play music, read, watch movies, swim, and spend time with my pets.
