Clinic Director

As the Clinic Director, your role is pivotal in aligning our sites with the company's mission, vision, and values. You'll provide on-site support for all clinician types, maintain clinical policies, procedures, and protocols, and ensure the delivery of compassionate care within a diverse and inclusive culture.  This role requires a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD or PhD) and involves supporting a team of dedicated clinicians and fostering a culture of excellence.

Direct reports:

  • Prescribers - Admin & Personnel (Shared oversight with Clinic Medical Director or Clinic Lead APP)

  • Therapists/Psychologists - Clinical, Admin, & Personnel

  • Medical Assistants - Personnel

Collaborates with: Clinic Medical Director or Clinic Lead APP; Provider Support Manager; Director of Operations; Therapy Support Lead

Responsibilities

MANAGERIAL – Approximately 15-30% percent of the role.

  •  Key contact and escalation for clinicians: As coordinated/standardized with the Executive Leadership Team, educates therapy clinicians on whom to go to for what (including clinical and non-clinical issues including help desk/service desk), and escalation guidelines for when needed.

  • Onsite Consultation: Offer support and guidance for clinical issues, escalating concerns to Director of Medical Services, Director of Behavioral Therapy Services, Clinic Medical Director, and Clinic Lead APP.

  • Collaborative Development: Work closely with regional leadership to strategize continuous quality assurance and improvement plans.

  • Staffing and Capacity Management: Monitor clinician schedules, assess staffing needs, and report to leadership for effective resource allocation.  Manage all provider schedules within the clinic as coordinated/standardized by the Chief Medical Officer.  Monitors yearly vacation time utilization, reporting out weekly to the regional leadership team.  Coordinates with Provider Support Manager on maintenance of clinical On-Call schedule.

  • Administrative Call Services: Partners with other regional Clinic Directors to maintain an Administrator On-Call schedule to cover vacation/sick leave for Clinic Directors.

  • Payroll management: Oversees and processes all clinical staff payroll needs.

  • CME Tracking: Monitors the utilization of CME funding and processes requests for final review by the regional leadership team.  Maintains yearly limits for CME utilization for all clinical staff. 

  • Trend Analysis and Solutions: Identify site-level trends and devise strategic solutions to enhance behavioral health service delivery.

  • Patient Emergency Triage: Handle and manage all patient emergencies effectively.

  • Interdepartmental Liaison: Act as a bridge between clinicians and operations, facilitating communication and resolving front desk issues.

  • Engagement and Support: Conduct regular check-ins with psychotherapy clinicians, participate in planning morale-boosting events, and assist in clinician retention initiatives.

  • In collaboration with Senior Director of Therapy Services and Senior Director of Medical Services, consult on planning social and morale-boosting events and initiatives assisting with clinician retention and engagement

  • Cultural Leadership: Lead weekly meetings to foster culture, informal case consultations, and rollout of new initiatives and guidelines

  • Provide assigned site(s) with focused, constructive consultation based on objective information and observation. Accurately assess and evaluate the service and care provided. Identify opportunities for improvement and make sound recommendations based on state regulations, quality metrics and company policies and procedures.

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct chart audits, offer coaching, and education to ensure compliance with regulations and quality metrics.

  • Responsible for personnel actions for psychotherapy clinicians **Note: Any personnel issues for psychiatric clinicians should be handled by Clinic Medical Director or Clinic Lead APP where applicable

  • Support clinician recruiting, interviewing and onboarding, as assigned by Executive Medical and Clinical Directors.

  • Policy Implementation: Work with the Clinic Medical Director or Clinic Lead APP to assist with the maintenance and implementation of clinical policies and procedures, ensuring compliance in designated site(s)

  • Training and Compliance: Oversee mandatory training for clinical staff and support the regulatory compliance process in facilities.

  • Support the regulatory compliance process in assigned facilities. Report actionable compliance items so they may be addressed accordingly. Adhere to established confidentiality standards of patient and employee information as applicable.

  • Safety Standards Adherence: Ensure adherence to HIPAA, OSHA, and safety standards in compliance with state and federal regulations.

  • Ensure that all HIPAA, OSHA and safety standards are followed, as applicable to the position, and in the business location or workplace, in accordance with state and federal regulations and facilities’ policies and procedures.       

  • Clinical Support back-up: Daytime on-call back-up for unavailable providers, including crisis calls

  • Community Engagement: Collaborates with the marketing team to help support local community engagement efforts.  Includes relationship building with local healthcare organizations and Apogee-sponsored community events.

     

CLINICAL DELIVERY – Approximately 60-80% percent of the role.

  • Caseload: Maintains a caseload in accordance with available non-admin time

Day-to-day:

  • Supports clinical staff. Manages schedules. Processes payroll.

  • Triages any patient issues for the clinic

  • Collaborates with Clinic Medical Director or Lead APP on prescriber-related topics

  • Triages any technical issues

  • Deliver direct patient care

Monthly

  • Meet with therapy clinicians to review policy and regulatory changes, review practice updates, and solicit clinician feedback

  • Reports key performance metrics to the leadership team

  • Lead monthly or ad-hoc clinical case discussions

As Needed

  • Policy implementation, quality control, training, and issue resolution

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Doctor of Psychology (PsyD or PhD)

  • Current and unrestricted state licensure as an LCMHC, LCSW, PhD, or PsyD in North Carolina

  • 2+ years of operational management within a healthcare setting, with knowledge and experience in clinical operations and information systems.

  • Tech Proficiency: Ability to learn and work with various clinical information systems and technologies.

  • Client Engagement: Exceptional skills in engaging clients and improving business processes.
