About Taylor Burleson
Hi! My name is Taylor, and I’m a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A). This means I work under the guidance of a fully licensed counselor while continuing to grow and refine my skills. I earned my counseling degree from Appalachian State University, where I also completed a certificate in expressive arts therapy. This is a specialty I love weaving into sessions when/if it feels supportive. My background is in community mental health, where I worked with adults navigating a wide range of concerns, including life transitions, relationship issues, low self-esteem, chronic pain, grief, anxiety, depression, and mood disorders.
In our work together, I will draw from several therapeutic approaches, including person-centered therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), expressive arts techniques, attachment-based therapy, feminist therapy, and narrative therapy. This means I’ll meet you where you are, honoring your lived experiences and tailoring our work to what feels most supportive for you. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and compassionate whether we’re exploring challenges, building new coping skills, or reconnecting with your strengths.
Outside of the counseling room, I enjoy working on my junk journal, going to the gym, and walking with my dogs. These activities help me stay grounded and connected to what brings me joy, which in turn allows me to show up more fully and authentically for my clients.
