About Rayana Swanson
Hello! My name is Rayana Swanson, LCMHC-A, NCC. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, along with a Certificate in Marriage and Family Counseling, from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.
I bring experience from several professional roles, including College Advisor and Direct Support Professional. In those roles, I worked closely with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. Most of my clinical experience comes from a children’s center, where I collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care.
I am passionate about working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families. I support clients facing anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem concerns, relational challenges, and life transitions. When traditional talk therapy is difficult, I incorporate play therapy and expressive arts techniques with children and adolescents.
Additionally, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and MATCH-ADTC. This evidence-based model supports children with anxiety, depression, trauma, and conduct-related concerns.
In my work as a therapist, I remain person-centered and focus on each client’s unique needs. I believe clients have the ability to navigate and work through life’s challenges. I may also assign at-home activities to support progress between sessions.
Above all, I aim to support growth in self-awareness, confidence, and resilience. I emphasize strengths and provide a space grounded in hope, encouragement, advocacy, acceptance, and empowerment.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, trying new foods and restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.
