About Laniya Ellison

My name is Laniya Ellison. I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A) who earned my master’s from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (Aggie Pride!). I also completed a certification in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling. I am passionate about creating a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where individuals feel heard, valued, and empowered to navigate life’s challenges. I am particularly interested in working with adolescents and adults in navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, life transitions, perinatal and postpartum experiences, as well as women and men’s mental health. I have a particular interest in supporting individuals and couples through emotional and relational changes and other major seasons of life.

My counseling approach is collaborative and tailored to each client’s individual needs, strengths, and goals. I incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), along with person-centered, strengths-based, and family systems-informed interventions. I believe therapy is about better understanding yourself, developing healthy coping strategies, working through challenges, and recognizing the strengths you already possess.

Outside of my professional role, I enjoy spending time with my family and loved ones (including my two fur babies), creating meaningful memories, and finding joy in everyday moments of life. I also enjoy baking, traveling and binge watching good shows. I believe every person’s journey is unique, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you navigate your own journey toward healing, growth and overall well-being.
