Hi, my name is Joanne Latta (She/Her), I’m board-certified family nurse practitioner (FNP) and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP). My primary goal is to listen, learn your unique circumstances and work with you to develop a personalized plan that best meets your needs. Having a good fit with your provider is important. I work with patients ages 6 and older with diverse backgrounds and life experiences including LGBTQ+. I treat a variety of mental health conditions including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD, DMDD, PTSD, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and substance use disorders.
I received my master’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill and my post master’s degree from Frontier Nursing University. Prior to my advanced practice nursing career, I have worked as an Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Critical Care Technician and Registered Nurse in multiple settings including ambulances, alcohol crisis center/detox facilities, emergency departments, primary care and occupational health clinics, and with a Child/Adolescent Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team. For the last fifteen years I have primarily worked inpatient psychiatry, the last two years as a PMHNP with child and adolescent psychiatry.
Outside work, I am a wife, mother, soon to be empty nester, and owner of a very spoiled dog. I enjoy spending time with my family, playing board or card games, walking my dog and reading a variety of different books though I tend to favor romcoms, mysteries and science fiction. I try my best to embrace new challenges and view them as opportunities to show strength and resilience.
