About Austin Kovack
Hello! My name is Austin, and I hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work, with a minor in Addictions Studies, from West Virginia University. I have a background working as an inpatient therapist, primarily on an adult dual diagnosis unit. Being from West Virginia, I also have experience serving individuals from rural communities.
I understand navigating the world around us can be difficult and challenging, impacting our mental health. As a therapist, one of my core values is providing a judgment-free zone. I am proficient in solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, and use a person-centered approach. I also have skills in dialectical behavior therapy, socratic questioning, and trauma-informed care.
Through my studies and experiences, I have become passionate about social justice issues, healthcare accessibility, harm reduction, and changing the stigma about mental health.
When I am not working, I enjoy being in nature, hiking, and going to concerts.
