About Kimberly Dawson

Kimberly Dawson is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who cares for patients of all ages across a wide range of mental health needs. As a Winston-Salem native, she earned her degree from Duke University and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice.

With more than 24 years of nursing experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings, Kimberly brings deep clinical expertise along with a strong sense of compassion to her work. In recent years, she has focused on treating adults with complex mental health conditions shaped by trauma as well as social and environmental factors.

In particular, her areas of specialization include ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, insomnia, and schizophrenia. At the same time, Kimberly creates a supportive, stigma-free environment where collaboration and shared decision-making drive the care process. She also prioritizes patient and family education, helping individuals better understand their conditions and treatment options so they can take an active role in their care.

Additionally, Kimberly values building genuine, supportive relationships with her patients. She works to create a safe and welcoming space where each person feels heard, respected, and empowered throughout their healing journey. Ultimately, her approach centers on compassion, collaboration, and the belief that recovery is always possible.

Outside of work, Kimberly enjoys writing poetry and spending quality time with her family.
