About Kimberly Dawson

Kimberly Dawson is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to serving patients across the lifespan with a wide range of mental health needs. A Winston-Salem native, she is both a graduate and current student at Duke University, where she is pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice. With more than 24 years of nursing experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings, Kimberly brings deep clinical expertise and a compassionate approach to her practice. Most recently, she has focused on providing care to adults with complex mental health conditions influenced by trauma and significant social and environmental factors.

Her areas of specialization include the evaluation and treatment of ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, insomnia, and schizophrenia. Kimberly is committed to creating a supportive, stigma-free environment where collaboration and shared decision-making are central to the healing process. She prioritizes patient and family education, empowering individuals to better understand their conditions and treatment options so they can take an active role in their care.

Kimberly values building authentic and supportive relationships with her patients. She strives to create a safe, welcoming environment where every individual feels heard, respected, and empowered in their healing journey. Her approach is guided by compassion, collaboration, and the belief that recovery is always possible.

Outside of her professional work, Kimberly enjoys writing poetry and spending quality time with her family.
