About Yer Vang

I find it a privilege to work with children, youth and adolescents, and adults through virtual therapy and in-person services. I work with those who struggle with depression, anxiety, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADD, ADHD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), mood disorders, grief and bereavement, life adjustments, self-esteem, self-image, suicidal ideations, non suicidal self injurious behavior, family and relationship dysfunction, and more.

By using theoretical bases including cognitive behavioral, person-centered, existential, humanistic, and multicultural approaches, I help my clients examine and understand the connections between thoughts, feelings, and behavior choices. Primarily, I believe in “the power of story,” and find it is of great benefit for patients to be able to tell their stories in a safe, accepting, non-judgmental setting.

Through our work together, my clients achieve outcomes that lead them to a sense of awareness, understanding, and more control over the struggles that initially encouraged them to seek support.

I find it to be fulfilling to learn about the story of my client’s lives, and hope to help them navigate life’s struggles. I come from a big family, so I understand how important — and sometimes complicated — such dynamics can be. I also have three cats who keep things interesting at home! In my work, I really believe that active listening is one of the most powerful tools we have. My goal is to create a space where all feel heard, understood, and supported as they grow.
