About Lauren Adams
Lauren is a licensed clinical social worker who has a BA in English and Women’s and Gender Studies from Vanderbilt University (2007) and a Masters in Social Work from Western Carolina University (2013). She has worked in a variety of settings over the years, including schools, hospitals, a jail, and outpatient clinics. Her primary areas of clinical focus are trauma-related disorders, particularly PTSD and dissociative disorders, but she also has extensive experience in treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, former gifted kid burnout, and ADHD. She also provides LGBTQ+ affirming services, and has substantial experience with this population.
In session, Lauren prefers to take a client-centered approach, and tailors her interventions to each individual she works with. She is trained in CBT, DBT, ERP, and EMDR, and is open to discussing and exploring other modalities if needed.
When she’s not working, Lauren can be found reading a book with one or more pets in her lap. She also enjoys crafting, journaling, and playing video games.
