About Rayana Swanson

Hello! My name is Rayana Swanson, LCMHC-A, NCC. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Certificate in Marriage and Family Counseling from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I gained valuable experience from working in a variety of positions such as being a College Advisor and a Direct Support Professional, working closely with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. I received most of my clinical experience at a children’s center where I collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to provide the best clinical care to our clients.

I am passionate when working with children, adolescents, young adults, and families struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, relational challenges, and transitional changes. I use play therapy and expressive art techniques with children and adolescents when traditional talk therapy is a challenge. I also incorporate approaches from cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, trauma-focused, and MATCH-ADTC which is an evidence-based practice that stands for Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, and Conduct problems.

As your therapist, I will remain person-centered by focusing on your specific needs throughout the counseling process. It is my belief that clients have the ability to work through and navigate life challenges. I may provide at home practice or activities for you to engage in outside of sessions to help you reach your goals to the fullest. I am committed to helping my clients gravitate toward self-awareness, growth, change, and confidence. I strive to emphasize strengths in my clients and provide an environment of hope, encouragement, advocacy, acceptance, and empowerment.

Outside of work, I love reading a good book, trying new foods/restaurants, and spending time with my friends and family.
