About Cristian Skinner
Dr. Cristian Skinner (he, him) is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry. Born and raised in Eastern North Carolina, he graduated from East Carolina University then received his PhD in Neurobiology and Anatomy at Wake Forest University. He earned his medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed psychiatry residency training at West Virginia University School of Medicine.
Dr. Skinner works with adults at every stage of their lives, and he has particular interest in the unique needs of geriatric psychiatric patients. In addition, he has extensive experience with patients with PTSD (including complex trauma). Dr. Skinner has worked to support LGBTQIA+ patients at all ages/stages of adulthood. Compassion is the cornerstone of Dr Skinner’s practice. His goal is for people of all backgrounds to find an open and welcoming place where their mental health can be supported within the context of their own distinct experience.
Dr. Skinner lives in the heart of the Triangle with his wife and their terrier. He is a classic “dog person,” a voracious music lover, and a fan of comedy. He also enjoys learning about history and languages.
