About Derek Ayers

Dr. Derek Ayers is a board-certified psychiatrist.  His core practice includes general psychiatry and addiction medicine.  He has specialty training and interest in substance use disorders and emergency care management, with a focus on patient recovery.  He also has an interest in college age mental health, anxiety disorders, and ADHD management.  He believes in developing a therapeutic alliance and a collaborative relationship with his patients regarding their journey to wellness.

Dr. Ayers obtained his medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University and completed his residency in general psychiatry at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where he obtained his board certification in both General Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine.  Since completing training, he has served in various clinical roles including the medical director of a substance use and rehabilitation center.
