The Head of Technology is the single point of accountability for technology strategy and execution across Apogee Behavioral Medicine. This role owns product development, engineering, data infrastructure, AI capabilities, and internal tooling across every Apogee function—clinical operations, growth, revenue cycle, recruiting, real estate, legal, and finance. The Head of Technology sets technology and product strategy, writes production code, designs systems end-to-end, and ships AI-powered products that deliver operational leverage to the entire organization. The Head of Technology owns full-stack decisions from architecture through deployment and holds sole accountability for translating emerging AI capabilities into working tools that move the business forward. The position requires a senior engineering leader who combines exceptional hands-on coding ability with strategic product judgment, builds durable internal technology for a multi-site healthcare operator, and brings rigor and shipping velocity to every technology decision.
Responsibilities
PRODUCT & TECHNOLOGY STRATEGY — Primary Focus
Technology Vision & Roadmap: Define and own Apogee’s internal technology strategy. Translate business priorities across clinical, growth, revenue cycle, and operations into a product roadmap that delivers measurable operational leverage. Make build-vs-buy decisions and determine where Apogee’s technology investment creates the highest return.
AI Product Development: Design, build, and ship AI-powered products that support every function of the business—clinical workflows, patient acquisition, revenue cycle, recruiting, real estate analysis, and back-office operations. Identify high-leverage automation and decision-support opportunities and turn them into working tools. Stay at the frontier of AI capability and translate new models and techniques into practical applications for Apogee.
Full-Stack Product Development: Own end-to-end product development from concept through deployment. Write production code across frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure layers. Build internal applications, automations, data products, and AI agents that integrate with existing systems (EHR, PM, CRM) and serve real users across the organization.
Systems Architecture: Design Apogee’s internal technology architecture for reliability, security, and extensibility. Make platform-level decisions on data infrastructure, cloud services, identity, and integration patterns. Ensure systems are built for scale as Apogee grows and for maintainability over time.
Cross-Functional Product Partnership: Work directly with function leaders across Clinical, Growth, RCM, Recruiting, Real Estate, Legal, and Finance to understand workflows, identify pain points, and build the right tools. Act as internal product partner—surfacing opportunities, prioritizing ruthlessly, and shipping solutions that move business metrics.
TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS
Data Platform Ownership: Own the data platform end-to-end. Ensure clean, trusted data flows from source systems (EHR, PM, billing, marketing) into a unified layer that powers analytics, AI products, and operational dashboards. Maintain data quality, lineage, and governance standards.
Security & Compliance: Build and maintain security posture across Apogee’s technology stack, with particular attention to HIPAA and PHI handling. Own access controls, encryption standards, audit logging, and vendor security reviews. Ensure all technology decisions meet healthcare compliance requirements.
Vendor & Platform Management: Manage Apogee’s technology vendor relationships—cloud providers, SaaS tools, AI platforms, development platforms. Hold vendors accountable to cost, performance, and reliability. Maintain a clear view of the full technology stack and eliminate redundant or underperforming tools.
Internal Tool Adoption: Partner with function leaders to drive adoption of technology tools across the organization. Build for real user workflows, gather feedback in production, and iterate quickly. Treat internal adoption as a primary success metric.
Integration & Automation: Integrate systems across the business to eliminate manual handoffs and reduce operational drag. Build automation that removes low-value work and frees teams for higher-impact activity.
Technology Operating Cadence: Establish and run a product development rhythm with clear priorities, shipping cadence, and visibility for leadership. Define technology KPIs tied to business outcomes. Provide executive-ready summaries of what is shipping, what is working, and where investment is needed.
